ML10 measurement system

ML10/XL-80 comparisonSince 1988 the ML10 laser measurement system (ML10 laser and EC10 environmental compensation unit) represented the ultimate in calibration for machine tools, co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and other position and motion critical systems.

Please note that the following products have now been officially superseded by XL laser measurement system equivalents.

The XL-80 laser and XC-80 compensator are shown (right) on top of the ML10 and EC10 units.

Introduction of the new XL laser system

The XL laser measurement system was successfully launched in March 2007. We believe that the XL-80 offers significant performance and operational benefits to many users. The system has been designed to be backwards compatible with existing ML10 optics and procedures.

Upgrade packages

Attractively priced upgrade packages are available for those customers wanting to upgrade from ML10 to XL-80 systems which recognise the long term investment customers have made in their Renishaw laser system and in the staff and procedures to operate them.

ML10 support

Renishaw is committed to the ongoing support of all ML10 system users. We will continue to offer a full service, recalibration and repair capability (including refurbished, factory warranted, units) for all ML10's and EC10's as well as options to upgrade to the newer products.

ML10 laser system features

±0.7 ppm accuracy - The ML10 Gold Standard laser head and EC10 environmental compensation unit deliver ±0.7 ppm linear measurement and ±0.05 ppm laser frequency stability, maintained over the full operational temperature range of 0 °C - 40 °C (32 °F - 104 °F).

Nanometre resolution - The ML10 Gold Standard achieves 1.2 nm resolution at feedrates of up to 1 m/s

Accurate and consistent compensation - Without accurate compensation, measurement accuracy is variable and may be severely reduced. The EC10 compensator calculates air refraction compensation to ±0.7 ppm and does this consistently throughout the entire environmental temperature range of 0 °C - 40 °C (32 °F - 104 °F), a figure our competitors simply can't match.

Flexible measurement - A range of optics and accessories allows you to measure linear positioning, pitch, yaw, straightness, squareness and rotary axis motion. Model variants are also available with an 80 m range and quadrature signal output. (Subject to export control regulations.)

Class II laser safety labelClass 2 power rating - The Class 2 power rating means the system can be used without the need for special safety equipment.
