Renishaw is pleased to announce that a neuromate® stereotactic robot system and neuroinspire™ surgical planning software have been installed and used at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool. Not only is this hospital a Centre of Excellence for cancer, spinal, heart and brain conditions but it is also one of the four national centres for childhood epilepsy surgery (CESS) – a joint service with Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

The first procedure carried out using the neuromate stereotactic robot and neuroinspire planning software was a stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) case for epilepsy, under the management of consultant neurosurgeons, Miss Sasha Burn and Dr. Anand Ayer. After the success of their first case, the team are already planning their next SEEG procedure.
