Motivation careers in STEM

The Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW) is a non-profit educational charity operating schemes throughout the principality to inspire and motivate young people to take up careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Renishaw works closely with EESW to deliver its STEM activities to schools in South Wales.

Among the EESW's many different activities is the annual "F1 in Schools" Challenge. Run at both primary and secondary levels in Wales, it involves student teams in the design and building of a model F1 racing car powered by a CO2 capsule. Teams race in regional finals in North and South Wales, with winners going on to the UK final at the Big Bang event.

Renishaw's Fabrication Development Centre at Miskin near Cardiff in South Wales has become a design, test and manufacturing centre for the F1 in Schools activity. In collaboration with the EESW the FDC offers local schools the use of CNC machinery and a racetrack to manufacture and test their cars.
