A sample plastic chair was scanned on the Cyclone scanning machine using a 6mm ball ended stylus.

After capture the data is verified prior to the generation of machining strategies. This verification will allow the capture processes to be checked preventing any surface errors being reproduced in the output for the machine tool. The machining strategies developed on screen and the output verified using the virtual machining module (VMM) of Tracecut.

Tool: 10 dia. Ball End Mill The 3D form to be machined using an area clearance routine leaving 2mm of stock material on all surfaces	Tool: 6 dia. Ball End Mill A semi-finish operation leaving 0.75mm of stock for finish machining.		Tool: 3 dia. Ball End Mill Finish machining with a 0.1mm stepover between cutting passes and zero stock.
