Driving engineering excellence
Renishaw is an official partner of BLOODHOUND Education Ltd.
Renishaw has been involved with the BLOODHOUND land speed record project as a product sponsor since 2013, using its additive manufacturing expertise to create the titanium nose tip, on its own metal additive manufacturing system. The company has also additively manufactured the car's titanium steering wheel, designed specifically to match the contours of driver, Andy Green's hands.
Renishaw is supporting BLOODHOUND's goal of inspiring a new generation of engineers. We have held BLOODHOUND open days at our Gloucestershire headquarters and Miskin site, where hundreds of primary school children were able to see a full-scale model of the car to get them excited and engaged with the project. Renishaw and BLOODHOUND Education have also co-created, an additive manufacturing (3D printing workshop, which involves a competition where the students must assemble and race models of the BLOODHOUND car, made of 3D printed (plastic) parts. These workshops have been delivered to schools local to the Gloucestershire headquarters and the Miskin site.
