Business development manager - AM Solutions centres
Dr Martin McMahon studied at the University of Liverpool where he gained a degree in Materials Science and Engineering, specialising in Metallurgy, and his Ph.D in laser materials processing of Aluminium alloys that included the synthesis of alloys by melting layers of metal powders on aluminium substrates. He later spent his post-doc years in Italy studying the properties of laser and electron beam welded precious metals and copper alloys.
Switching to industry, his career has spanned many topics from Forensic Science to the diagnosis of skin cancer, and from nanotechnology to inkjet printing. However, prior to joining Renishaw Dr McMahon spent several years with one of the UK's leading metal AM service providers that was amongst the first to introduce metal AM as a fully qualified production process into the medical, aerospace, F1 motorsport and the oil & gas sectors. Now at Renishaw he is supporting the technical aspects of customer projects across the EMEA region, liaising with the full supply chain to further the potential of production with laser powder bed fusion.
