The Productivity+™ Scanning Suite is an integrated on-machine scanning measurement system that uses the OSP60 probe with SPRINT™ technology to record absolute XYZ surface position data with exceptional accuracy.

The Suite comprises a variety of optional application-specific toolkits, each focused on an individual task or industry sector.

Blade scanning application using OSP60 SPRINT probe

SPRINT™ technology for high-resolution scanning


Exceptionally responsive design

To achieve highly accurate measurements, the OSP60 probe's stylus tip must precisely follow the surface of the workpiece.

Two parallel planar springs support the probe stylus, allowing it to pivot and move in Z with no mechanical pivot. Stylus movement is undamped – allowing the probe to be exceptionally responsive.

High-resolution analogue sensor

SPRINT™ technology allows high-resolution stylus deflection data to be recorded with exceptional accuracy.

The patented 3D capacitive transducer can rapidly register sub-micron movement in all directions at the stylus tip.

A vast amount of data every second

The OSP60 probe sends 1000 XYZ measurement data points back to the OMM-S receiver every second using a high-speed, noise-resistant optical transmission system.

Advanced fitting algorithms are used to process the data, calculating feature position, size and form.

Prismatic scanning as standard

As standard, the Productivity+™ Scanning Suite can accurately measure circles, lines, arcs and planes. These prismatic features are measured on known parts and the results used for part setting or for post-process inspection.

Productivity+™ Freeform Surface Toolkit

Free-form 3D geometry can be measured at high speed using the Productivity+™ Freeform Surface Toolkit; enabling the rapid inspection of complex surfaces with single and double curvature.

Absolute XYZ surface positional data can be reported from free-form surfaces using the Freeform Surface Toolkit. Results can be output to a file for further analysis or stored in machine variables for process control.

An existing touch-trigger inspection process, for the inspection of free-form surfaces, can be easily replaced by the Freeform Surface Toolkit.

Productivity+™ Blade Toolkit

The Productivity+™ Blade Toolkit offers high-speed, accurate measurement, with exceptional definition of high-curvature surfaces, such as leading and trailing edges.

Several high-precision applications including blade tip refurbishment, in-process blade measurement and root blending of bladed disks can be enhanced using the OSP60 probe. By scanning the blade, the inspection cycle time is significantly shorter than that of an equivalent traditional probing solution.

The Blade Toolkit offers a drop-in replacement for an existing touch-trigger process; allowing for easy adoption of scanning technology.

Productivity+™ Adaptive Cut Toolkit

The Adaptive Cut Toolkit can be used to generate component specific cutting toolpaths for near net parts such as castings.

The toolkit is more than just a best fitting tool as it adjusts the individual nominal toolpath points to match the true shape of the scanned component.

Typical applications include edge breaking, chamfering and copy cutting (e.g. for mating parts). The toolkit offers a standalone solution that is easy to use, and is highly optimised to provide quick and automatic upload of the new cutting program.

Customised applications

Productivity+™ MTM cycle

The Productivity+™ MTM cycle offers exceptionally repeatable diameter measurement to machine tool builders who produce Y-axis multi-task machine tools for use in the machining of highly accurate diameters.

Single sided diameters, part run-out, machine centre-line and circularity can all be measured with high repeatability on multi-task machines.

The cycle provides users with the potential for extremely accurate automatic ‘cut-measure-cut' operations with tolerances of a few microns.

Productivity+™ Machine Health Check

The Productivity+™ Machine Health Check application provides machine tool performance verification in less than one minute, preventing scrap caused by poor machine condition. The machine test that the application generates can be integrated into a CNC machining cycle, providing confidence in machine health just before machining.

Machine Health Check can test:

• 3-axis machine linear axis capability
• 5-axis kinematic pivot point location

Results are stored in CNC variables, allowing for an instant Go/No-go decision on continued running of the machine.
