Get started with Renishaw
Find the right stylus for your application and experience superior measurement performance.
The leading supplier of precision styli for metrology
Renishaw is renowned for its expertise in precision engineering. We consistently deliver high-quality styli that ensure outstanding performance across Renishaw's own probe systems. These styli also provide excellent results when used with probe systems from other major manufacturers.
Our styli are designed to meet the increasing demands of modern measurement environments. They offer seamless compatibility, reliable accuracy and long-lasting durability for a wide variety of applications.
Many users of CMMs struggle with styli that are difficult to integrate across mixed probe platforms. This results in system downtime and inconsistent measurement results. Renishaw resolves this with compatible styli that integrate effortlessly into existing set-ups.
Users of styli from low quality suppliers, frequently encounter inaccuracies that introduce errors or fail under high-speed or dynamic scanning conditions. To address this, each Renishaw stylus is purpose built to minimise measurement errors. This ensures consistent, dependable contact with the workpiece.

Our ruby, OPTiMUM™ diamond, silicon nitride and zirconia stylus balls offer exceptional wear resistance and lasting value. All of these long-lasting ball materials reduce repeated replacements and costly disruptions.
We are here to help you find the right stylus for your specific probe system. Whether you use Renishaw probes or those from other manufacturers such as ZEISS, BLUM, or FARO®, we provide high quality styli. This ensures seamless integration across mixed platforms.

Why are purpose-built styli essential for precision probe systems?
Styli are the only part of a probe system that physically touches the workpiece. Their design directly affects the accuracy, repeatability, and overall performance of measurement systems like CMMs, machine tools, and scanning probes.
How do styli integrate with probe systems?
Styli must integrate seamlessly with probe systems, including dynamic heads and scanning sensors. Adaptor plates, extensions, and knuckles are often used to ensure the stylus can reach and measure features accurately without compromising rigidity. We design styli for specific probes to maximise performance.
What styli should I use with Renishaw's REVO® 5-axis multi-sensor scanning system?
RSP2 (2D scanning)
- Uses approved M2 styli only.
- Styli must be listed in the UCC controller to ensure compatibility.
- Designed for tip-sensing and high-speed scanning, requiring tight control over mass and rigidity.
RSP3 (3D scanning)
- Uses M3 threads but often incorporates M2 styli via adaptors.
- More flexible than RSP2, but still benefits from styli optimised for scanning performance.

Styli for the OPS60 scanning probe
OSP60 specific styli are available in two ranges; the OSP60 standard range, which is suitable for the majority of applications, and the OSP60 calibrated range (UKAS certified), which is designed for the most demanding applications.

How does Renishaw support ZEISS probe systems?
Renishaw offers a comprehensive range of precision styli, adaptors and accessories designed specifically for ZEISS probe heads. Providing CMM users with the accuracy and reliability expected from our measurement solutions.
Our products are compatible with ZEISS analogue probe systems, supporting flexible and demanding inspection requirements. Alongside our wide selection of styli, we also provide a complete ecosystem of accessories. These include holders, extensions, knuckles, cubes, adaptors and specialist tools, to help users optimise their measurement setups.
The range also includes styli and adaptor plates for the ZEISS Vast XXT scanning sensor. TL1, TL2 and TL3 adaptor plates are available alongside dedicated M3 styli engineered for these configurations.
Both ranges incorporate several design elements which offer improved metrology performance for machine tool scanning applications.

Renishaw styli for FARO® measuring arms
Renishaw offers a dedicated range of precision styli engineered specifically for FARO arm probes. This provides portable measurement users with the robustness and accuracy needed for demanding inspection tasks.
These styli are available in a variety of diameters. They are built with grade 5 zirconia balls, a tough ceramic material with hardness and wear properties close to ruby. Its durability makes it ideal for aggressive scanning. It is particularly suitable for cast iron components.
Each ball is securely bonded to a high-strength tungsten carbide stem using impact resistant adhesive. Our specialised construction techniques ensure an exceptionally rigid and reliable joint.
The range includes options in both 1¼ 20 UN and M6 thread sizes. There is also a selection of accessories such as extension components, screws, and adaptors. In addition, metrology fixturing components and metrology fixture tables, are available. These provide everything needed to optimise FARO based measurement set-ups.
