Renishaw joins £38M DECSAM programme to scale sustainable aerospace additive manufacturing
November 2025
Renishaw is collaborating on DECSAM, a £38m UK programme led by Airbus to industrialise L-PBF—cutting cost, boosting productivity and improving sustainability. The 11-partner team spans OEMs, Tier-1s, SMEs, RTOs and academia, and will deliver demonstrator parts, in-process quality assurance, digital thread and factory scale-up on the route to certification.
The project runs July 2024–June 2028 under the ATI Programme. Renishaw will develop processes and parameters for high-temperature materials; improved process control through modelling and simulation; extension of powder life for feedstock sustainability; productivity and automation improvements using RenAM 500 systems. This will help translate R&D into certifiable solutions for next-generation airframe and engine platforms.
