Renishaw dental milling machine and incise CAM software

A full in-lab system gives you total control over your dental restorations, as well as reducing your unit costs, whilst retaining the option to use Renishaw's central manufacturing facilities for overflow work.

The system comprises a scanner and CAD software, as well as powerful CAM software, a milling machine and a recommended furnace.

Innovative machines

Zirconia billet in a Renishaw incise milling machineRenishaw’s dental scanner and in-lab milling machine both use a patented non-Cartesian mechanism. Unlike conventional designs, this provides a lightweight and cost-effective structure that enables high-speed processing in a compact device. This means that even the smallest lab can accommodate a scanner, whilst bigger labs can offer a full-scale CAD/CAM service from a single workbench.

The milling machine fits easily on a bench top and can mill 15 to 30+ (28 is typical) ceramic frameworks from a single billet of zirconia, including bridges of up to 8 units in size. With an average cutting time of just 30 minutes per unit, a single milling machine is sufficient to meet the needs of most laboratories.

CAD/CAM made easy

Once you have finished designing your framework, the manufacturing data is sent either to Renishaw's central manufacturing facilities, or to your own in-lab milling machine.

Powerful CAM software

Screen shot from Renishaw's incise dental CAM softwareRenishaw's in-lab milling machine is supplied with incise CAM software, which automatically converts your design into a series of cutter paths needed to machine the framework. All you have to do is identify where on the billet you want the machining to take place. To maximise production capabilities it is also easy to connect additional milling machines to a single PC with the software.

Strong, tough zirconia

Renishaw zirconia billet with frameworks cut outRenishaw supplies zirconia billets for use with the milling machine. Renishaw's central manufacturing facilities feature large cells with many machines, enabling a rapid response to demand from laboratories that do not own a milling machine, or who need overflow capacity.

A complete solution

Nabertherm furnace for sintering Renishaw frameworksRenishaw recommends a Nabertherm® sintering furnace, which can reach temperatures of up to 1500°C, to fire the pre-sintered zirconia frameworks. Approximately 6 hours of sintering is required for the zirconia to attain its full strength and toughness.
