Zirconia ceramic for dental applications

All incise™ dental CAD/CAM frameworks are made from partially-sintered zirconia. Unlike any other ceramic, zirconia has a unique transformation toughening mechanism; when a crack starts to form, its growth is impeded by a phase change in the material. This makes it the ideal choice for dental applications.

Material strength of zirconia

Alumina proves to be the most brittle material, shown by the length of the crack formations. Zirconia is the strongest and toughest of all materials tested.

Bonding with porcelain

Little is known about the nature of the bond between zirconia and porcelain. incise™ zirconia has been tested with a number of different porcelains to ensure the delamination forces exceed clinical requirements.
