Marketing & Business Development Manager

Renishaw, Spectroscopy Products Division (SPD) produces the world’s best selling InVia series of research grade Raman microscopes. Renowned for its innovation and technical excellence, the division has a range of exciting new products in development to support future growth and to extend the application of Raman spectroscopy into new sectors.

In order to exploit these opportunities to the full, Renishaw are looking to recruit a professional marketing and business development manager with experience of the analytical instrument market. This is a great opportunity to be instrumental in taking this already successful business to a new level.

The role is based at Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire and will supervise a team of 5 marcomms and applications specialists.

The function of the role is twofold:

  • The ongoing Marketing and Global support of the current SPD products.
  • To bring to market new SPD products, developing application areas and channels to market, and coordinating new product development and introductions.

A considerable amount of travel may be required since the role supports a truly global business with greater than 90% of the companies business being conducted outside the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Business Development:
    • Identify and qualify new application and customer areas
    • Identify routes to market and ensure full exploitation of the potential of new products in development
  •  Marketing:
    • Defining and delivering a focussed marketing communications programme to better exploit the existing product range and to further extend our market presence and reputation.
    • Provide clear planning and execution of product launch plans.
    • Conduct market research to inform discussion on new product strategy and technology collaborations.
    • Assist subsidiaries with their marketing activities in line with the divisional marketing strategy.

Person Specification:

You will be an experienced marketing manager, with a background of OEM business development or sales in the analytical instrument or life sciences market. You will have a good understanding of Spectroscopy and be familiar with Raman techniques. A clear thinker and strategist with sound judgement and initiative you will be capable of influencing and communicating across all levels. You possess a network of contacts in the analytical instrument market and a track record in successful planning of strategy and new product launch. Qualified to degree level in a relevant science, and ideally with a further business or scientific qualification, you will be entirely credible in your dealings with academic end users and industrial partners.

UK and Ireland Sales Manager

Following sales growth, and the expansion of our product portfolio, Renishaw Spectroscopy Products Division is looking to recruit an additional Sales Manager to take responsibility for our UK & Ireland sales territories. The post will require extensive travel across the territory.

Requirements:

  • Previous sales expertise in analytical instrumentation, preferably spectroscopy based.
  • To have knowledge and a proven ability of working within life sciences, pharmaceuticals or the bio-diagnostics markets.
  • Good science or life sciences degree, ideally PhD.
  • Clean, full driving licence.

Product Marketing Engineer

Laser & Calibration Products Division

The Calibration Products Division is currently one of the most rapidly expanding businesses within Renishaw, driven by the successful release of the new XL-80 laser system together with additional new products and developments currently in both the design and feasibility stages. 

A vacancy has arisen within Calibration Product Marketing for a Product Marketing Engineer.  The successful candidate will be asked to provide technical and commercial support to sales subsidiaries worldwide and internal teams, covering the range of laser and ballbar systems.

The key outputs and deliverables of the role include:

  • New Product Development programme liaison, including launch plan implementation
  • Technically based marketing support (e.g. brochures, applications/case studies and product bulletins)
  • Market and competitor intelligence reports
  • Day-to-day subsidiary support on a wide range of technical and commercial issues

A good knowledge of the engineering and application of the systems will need to be developed, although additional technical resource is available through the Calibration Product Support team.  Liaison will be required with a wide range of contacts in subsidiaries and with production, engineering, and tech support functions as well as close liaison with the Sales & Marketing Manager and the Marcomms Assistant.

Qualifications and expertise:

All applicants need to have the following:

  • Degree level education (preferably engineering or marketing based)
  • Strong commercial and technical aptitude, with thorough expertise of working in a marketing or engineering role within a manufacturing environment 
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be a proactive member of the team developing new processes and solutions  
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to originate high quality and accurate materials (documents and presentations), as direct communication with a wide range of people is essential to the role
  • To be PC literate with good skills in Microsoft Office

Although not essential, it is also desirable if applicants have the following:

  • A good knowledge of desktop publishing (Quark, InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Practical knowledge and techniques in gathering, collating and analysing market data
  • Expertise in product development, project management and working under quality management systems

Person specification:

The successful applicant will need to show that they are proactive character, who is willing to propose, develop and implement initiatives when required.  You should have a character that can easily co-operate with a wide number of people outside the team, maintain a positive and resilient attitude at all times, and have the adaptability to work with various business cultures worldwide.

Technical Sales Executive

The above exciting vacancy has arisen at Renishaw in the Dental Product Division, the purpose of which is to promote the Renishaw Incise dental CAD CAM system to UK Dental Laboratories.

The key outputs and deliverables of this role are as follows:

  • To increase the number of frameworks and the number of Laboratories using the Incise process
  • To be the voice of the customer on this exciting dental project within a rapidly expanding part of dental market
  • Be the dental technician giving expert feedback to a small team developing products at the cutting edge of dental technology

Applicants for this role must have the following qualifications/expertise:

  • Be a registered dental technician with expertise of selling in the UK dental Laboratory sector
  • Have a knowledge of the crown and bridge sector
  • PC literate
  • A full driving licence

It is also desirable if applicants have knowledge of the dental CAD CAM sector, and the ability to produce and deliver presentations to dental audiences.

The successful applicant to this role should be able to show how they are a team player with a “can do” attitude.

This role involves extensive travelling all over the UK with most of the time spent on the road.  For this reason, a company car and lap top will be provided.  Although not necessarily essential, it would be an advantage if the applicant is within an easy commutable distance to the Renishaw HQ at Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire.

Training Development Engineer

The above position has arisen with a focus upon developing training materials relating to machine tool products, their use, and application. The training materials will be targeted at a variety of audiences, from end users through to our own subsidiaries and internal staff.

The key outputs and deliverables of this role are as follows:

  • To produce concise and approachable training material for a range of Machine Tool products
  • To develop training materials as a range of products which may be offered to end users
  • To research best practice in training material for Machine Tool applications, for different audiences

Continuous improvement will be a key part of this role so the ability to collect and apply feedback points over time will be important, as will be the ability to prioritise this work against the development of new material.

This role has large scope for future development, so enthusiasm is required to help drive the implementation of training as a successful part of the Machine Tool product line.

Technical Author - PC Software

The above position has arisen in order to support the Renishaw machine tool software business through the production of compelling and targeted material. The machine tool division brings several world-class software products to the industry, and seeks an individual who can apply their skill to produce material for internal use, and sales/marketing material suitable for our customers.

The key outputs and deliverables of this role are as follows:

  • Supporting the MTP Software Business Manager by developing a portfolio of sales and marketing material
  • Maintaining all software-related literature in line with the latest versions of the software products
  • Investigating and developing new materials as appropriate for a software product

Initially working closely with the MTP Software Business Manager to define the core objectives and strategy, the development of new ideas will be a key part of the role. The confidence to see these new ideas through to completion will be a critical part of making the role a success.

Sales and Marketing Manager

To support the developing neurological activities at Renishaw, the position of Sales and Marketing Manager has become available.  This role requires an enthusiastic and self motivated individual with medical device experience, to play a major role in the selling and marketing of novel neurological medical devices.

The key outputs and deliverables include the following:

  • Account management and customer liaison, including the development of customer contract reviews 
  • Sales forecasting and business planning 
  • Studying of market research, competitor analysis of stereotactic systems, drug delivery systems, and surgical planning software 
  • Producing product marketing documentation in line with the development process requirements at Renishaw 
  • Overseeing all product labeling, including IFU’s,  product  labels, website and general marketing communications (brochures / flyers etc) 
  • Event management   including pre and post event activities

Qualifications and expertise:
