Long-scale accuracy
Here we are comparing the long-scale accuracy of various materials, looking just at the magnitude of the error, not the vector.

Renishaw agreed confidentiality when testing, so we cannot reveal the names of the products shown.
Alginate storage
Here we look at alginate materials, widely used in clinical practice. Particularly important is the storage of alginate impressions.
For this test we looked at diameter measurements of the spheres, important for form accuracy when considering crown work. The impression was left in a moist environment as per manufacturers’ instructions.

Even after storage for 24 hours, we have exceeded the 100 µm error budget.
Impression stability
Impressions were taken of a prepared tooth and left to relax for different times before pouring the model.

This test showed that there was no difference between an immediately poured impression or one left to relax.
