Innovative manufacturer
After formally opening the MACH show on 21st April, during which he paid tribute to Renishaw as a leading innovative UK manufacturer, Ian Pearson, UK Minister of State for Science and Innovation, spent time at the company’s exhibition stand. The Minister was hosted by Marc Saunders, General Manager for Renishaw’s UK Sales Division, who demonstrated the company’s new products that help manufacturers’ profitability in an era of intense global competition. Mr Saunders also used the opportunity to discuss how the Government could help businesses by giving tax breaks on their research and development investments.
Later during the week, Alan Duncan, Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, was also updated by Mr Saunders about the positive impact that many UK manufacturing companies are having on the UK economy, contrary to popular opinion. Whilst at the Renishaw stand Mr Duncan also learnt that 93% of Renishaw’s products are exported, but despite this, the company is still able to maintain the bulk of its manufacturing in the UK due to high levels of automation, quality and process innovations in its manufacturing operations.
