Renishaw scanning technology aids new Yamazaki Mazak solution for gear manufacturing

7 September 2018

At IMTS 2018, taking place in Chicago, USA, from 10-15 September, Yamazaki Mazak is showcasing its new Integrex AG series of machine tools which utilise Renishaw SPRINT™ technology to deliver a rapid and flexible solution for gear manufacturing.

The need for flexibility and mass customisation is commonplace in modern manufacturing. No more so than in gear manufacturing, where a wide variety of parts are required to service a range of industry sectors.

The Mazak Integrex AG series, factory fitted with the Renishaw OSP60 scanning probe with SPRINT technology, addresses this need thanks to its ability to perform multi-tasking machining operations, specialised gear cutting and rapid on-machine part measurement, all on one machine. The use of the Renishaw technology helps to ensure that processes traditionally performed on multiple machines can now be done on a single platform, delivering exceptional component accuracy and a significant reduction in manufacturing cycle time.

With the unique 3D sensor technology within the OSP60 probe and a simple conversational programming method, on-machine gear alignment and profile and lead measurement can be performed with ease – enabling ultra-fast detection of gear face angles and form errors.
