STEM outreach

Promoting careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Engineering plays a vital role in all our lives.

From the technology we rely on every day to the innovations shaping our future, engineering underpins the world around us. At Renishaw, our STEM outreach team brings these clear and positive messages into schools and colleges across Gloucestershire, Bristol and South Wales, and to universities throughout the UK.

Our STEM outreach programme is designed to excite, interest and engage students through a wide range of hands‑on engineering activities. We aim to give young people genuine insight into the vibrant world of engineering and the career opportunities available through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.

We are committed to reaching more diverse audiences, including students from special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) schools and those living in socio‑economically disadvantaged areas. By doing so, we help young people in our communities explore career paths they may never have considered.

Our Impact in 2025

In the last year, we continued to grow and strengthen our STEM outreach programme by:

  • Participating in more than 175 STEM events in Wales and Gloucestershire, engaging with around 13,500 students.
  • Working with diverse student groups, with almost 30% of our engagements involving all‑female groups, young people from minority ethnic backgrounds, economically disadvantaged communities and SEND schools.
  • Expanding our focus on primary school engagement, recognising the importance of early exposure to STEM. This year, we connected with more than 1,200 primary students through school assemblies celebrating International Women in Engineering Day.
  • Developing our internship programme across EMEA, adding new commercial and technical roles in Spain, France and the Nordics.
  • Building partnerships with colleges and careers fairs in the USA to champion STEM education. We were proud to receive an industry partner award from the Davis Technical College Foundation for our contribution to hands‑on student learning.

Together, these initiatives reflect Renishaw's commitment to inspiring future engineers and helping young people realise their potential.
