About OMI
The OMI optical machine interface is designed to reside in the machine's working envelope. Like the OMM, its purpose is to send and receive infra-red probe signals.
The OMI has the added benefit of supplying totem pole (transistor) output, thus eliminating the need for a separate MI12 interface.
The OMI operates Renishaw's legacy transmission method. This has recently been superseded by a new modulated optical transmission method, which provides the highest level of resistance to signal interference from other light sources in the machine environment. Please refer to the new OMI-2 and OMI-2T receiver units.
Compatible probes
The OMI can be used with all the following inspection/setting probes for machining centres.
New generation probes (operating in legacy mode): OMP40 , OMP60 , OMP400
Legacy transmission only: MP3 , MP7 , MP8 , MP9 , MP10 , MP12 , MP700, LTO optical units
