A range of "Repair by Exchange" (RBE) units are available for several items as a cost effective repair option and (subject to availability) we can also offer factory refurbished ML10 lasers and EC10 compensators. Before returning any units for repair or replacement please contact our technical support team. To minimise disruption to your operations we will always try where possible to resolve any issues by phone or email first, before deciding that the unit needs returning to Renishaw. Service and repairsAccidents happen and systems do wear in use. Whatever the reason you will want to know that Renishaw offers a full range of service and repair options. And don't forget that for older ML10, EC10 and QC10 units that upgrade options are available against a brand new Renishaw system. For full details of the scope and price of these services please contact your local Renishaw office. Why recalibrate?Your Renishaw measurement system is a precision instrument. Even with perfect care of the system, wear of mechanical components and drift in electrical components can effect the accuracy of measurement and potentially result in values outside of the specified accuracy. Renishaw recommends, in line with most quality assurance system requirements, that the Renishaw system components are periodically re-calibrated, to give confidence that the system is capable of delivering the specified accuracy of measurement. Compared to the investment in the measurement system, the staff and the procedures that it is operated with, recalibration is a modest additional cost and could prevent far more expensive and more serious problems arising later. Recalibration periods?Renishaw's recommended recalibration periods are based on "typical" use of the system under normal service conditions. Renishaw recommends 12 months for laser system compensators (XC-80 and EC10) and 2 - 3 years for laser units (XL-80 and ML10). QC10 ballbars also have a recommended 12 month interval due to the machine shop conditions they are used under. Recalibration facilities?Product recalibration is available through your local Renishaw contact at facilities in the UK and USA (with NPL traceability), and Germany (with PTB traceability). All units returned to Renishaw UK for recalibration or for repair (where recalibration is carried out after the repair), are recalibrated in accordance with same procedures used for new systems. The procedure for recalibration of systems carried out in North America and Germany is different to that used in the UK with a direct measurement comparison to a reference laser system, to give a check on overall system measurement accuracy. The reference system is routinely calibrated (usually at 6 month intervals) by the relevant National Standards authority (NPL in USA and PTB in Germany).
