Magnetic rotary encoders

Renishaw has worked closely with our associate company RLS d.o.o. to produce a range of compact, high-speed rotary magnetic encoders. Using OnAxis™ magnetic encoder technology, the products are designed for use in harsh environments, such as marine, medical, print, converting, industrial automation, metal working, motor control and instrumentation.

Using Hall-effect sensor technology, the encoder comprises a magnetic actuator and separate encoder body. Rotation of the actuator is sensed by a custom encoder chip within the body and processed to the required output.

• Non-contact/frictionless and bearing versions available
• Resolutions to 13-bit (8192 positions per revolution)
• Excellent dirt immunity and sealed to IP68
• High speed operation to 30000 rpm
• Industry standard absolute, analogue, incremental, and linear outputs

Also available within the OnAxis™ magnetic encoder range are low cost rotary magnetic encoder modules for OEM integration, and rotary magnetic encoder ICs with both binary and decimal resolutions. For linear applications, we also offer a range of magnetic linear encoders.
