TONiC™ RGSZ linear encoder

TONiC™ T1000 series represents a new generation of super-compact encoders, specially designed for highly-dynamic precision linear motion systems, bringing higher accuracy, higher speed and greater reliability to a variety of demanding industry sectors.

The compact readhead is complimented by the latest evolution of RGS gold tape scale, now featuring customer-selectable optical IN-TRAC™ reference marks (datum positions). Uniquely, these structures are directly embedded into the incremental channel to enable electronic auto-phasing simply by pressing a button. Furthermore, the IN-TRAC™ reference marks are bi-directionally repeatable, have superior tolerance against yaw deflections and remain phased throughout the entire speed (10 m/s) and temperature (70 °C) range.

For ultimate reliability, consistent performance and high dirt immunity, TONiC™ readheads incorporate third-generation filtering optics, tuned for even lower noise (jitter) and now further enhanced by dynamic signal processing including Auto Gain Control and Auto Offset Control. This combination – all incorporated inside the readhead - provides signals of unrivalled purity and ultra-low Sub-Divisional Error of just ±30 nm. The result is smoother velocity control for improved scanning performance and increased positional stability; essential parameters for so many applications.

TONiC™ readheads also feature a detachable analogue or digital interface in the form of a robust, convenient connector that can be located up to ten metres from the readhead. The interface can apply high-fidelity digital interpolation to 5 nm resolution, with clocked outputs for optimised speed performance at all resolutions for industry-standard controllers.

TONiC™ T1000 encoders are ideally suited to the most demanding industries such as FPD and P-V manufacturing, wire bonding, electronics assembly machines, PCB drilling, metrology systems plus other motion stages that exploit the advantages of linear motors, air bearings or high-speed drives.

RGSZ 20 µm pitch tape scale

The RGSZ tape scale is a low-profile, thin flexible steel strip which is gold plated to give high reflectivity and corrosion resistance. It may be mounted using adhesive backing tape to most engineering materials, including metals, granite, ceramics, and composites.
