RenDx Gastroplex assay

The RenDx Gastroplex assay will provide an aid to diagnosis of bacterial gastroenteritis, offering the potential of improved patient management and reduced care costs.

Overview

Gastrointestinal infections remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide and can frequently result in ward closure, both in Europe and the United States, impacting heavily on healthcare budgets and patient recovery times. The rapid and accurate identification of bacterial pathogens associated with gastroenteritis can aid acute patient management decisions, while minimising cost from presumptive isolation and hospital stay.

The RenDx Gastroplex assay will provide a PCR based diagnostic test for the most common causative agents of bacterial gastroenteritis. The assay will identify 7 bacterial targets, detecting nucleic acid extracted directly from faecal samples. The high sensitivity and specificity provided by the unique RenDx Multiplex Assay System have the potential to aid earlier diagnosis, reduce overall spend and improve patient outcomes for those susceptible to these infections.
