Renishaw sponsors SS Great Britain Christmas Tree and Golden Ticket programme
November 2025
Renishaw, the global engineering technologies company, is sponsoring the SS Great Britain's Christmas Tree and Golden Ticket programme this festive season. The initiative forms part of Renishaw's ongoing commitment to STEM outreach, inclusion and community engagement in the Bristol area.
Through this sponsorship, Renishaw is supporting SS Great Britain's Golden Ticket programme, which provides free school visits for children from areas of Bristol experiencing educational deprivation. Run by the SS Great Britain Education Team, the programme offers engaging workshops and guided tours that bring history, innovation and engineering to life. Since its launch in 2011, the Golden Ticket scheme has steadily expanded, giving more young people, schools and families across the city the opportunity to take part and benefit from this inspiring educational experience.
This year's Christmas Tree lights switch on, themed ‘Golden Glow', will take place on 27 November from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at Brunel Square, opposite the entrance to the SS Great Britain. Guests can enjoy mulled wine and seasonal refreshments from the new restaurant, The Board Walk. Speeches from Old Father Christmas and Mr Brunel will celebrate the success of the Golden Ticket programme, recognising its decade-long impact on local schools and the wider Bristol community.
Using its metal additive manufacturing technology, Renishaw has also produced an innovative Christmas decoration for each school participating in the programme, showcasing the creativity and precision of 3D printing. In addition, Renishaw team members will take part in one of the education workshops, engaging directly with students to share insights into the world of engineering.
“We're delighted to support the SS Great Britain's Christmas celebrations and the Golden Ticket programme,” said Chris Pockett, Head of Communications at Renishaw. “This initiative supports our long-term commitment to STEM outreach and education, and it's a wonderful way to celebrate engineering, our local schools and community during the festive season.”
Renishaw continues to strengthen its diversity and inclusion initiatives through its broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, alongside early careers and STEM outreach programmes, with the aim of inspiring the next generation of engineers and innovators.
