Physical scientists in Renishaw are involved in the all stages of product development, from the initial product and technology research phase, through to the design, implementation and test of new products, and also in maintenance and problem resolution for existing products. An essential part of the role is liaison with specialists from other disciplines, particularly Mechanical, Electronics and Software Engineers.

As a graduate entrant you will join a highly talented team of like-minded scientists and engineers working within one of our product divisions. You will take part in a general induction program with new graduates from other disciplines and take advantage of a wide range of general and role-specific training opportunities. You will be supported by a mentor to help you gain knowledge and ensure your career gets off to a flying start.

Person specification:

Renishaw are looking for well-motivated graduates who are numerate and logical, with an analytical and innovative approach to problem solving. They must be well organised and be able to demonstrate excellent practical, hands-on skills. Good mathematical modelling skills, both analytical and numerical will be an advantage. Interest or experience in the analysis and design of optical systems would be particularly relevant for many of the roles. Fluency in a high-level programming language is very desirable.

A good degree in physics can be a suitable qualification for these roles. But an applied- mathematician with strong practical skills or a chemist with a physical chemistry / instrumentation bias may also be appropriate.
