Physics/Scientific Industrial Placement

The Physics and Scientific Industrial Placement at Renishaw is suitable for students who are required to undertake a sandwich placement as part of their degree course. You will be given relevant projects related to your interests and discipline studied. The entire placement is spent within one product division to enable you to get fully involved and give you responsibilities within the projects that you will be working on.

You must:

• Be studying at degree level in a STEM subject
• Have a proven interest in technology
• Be enthusiastic, motivated and have an ambitious nature

If you have the right aptitude and appetite you will have the opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact during the placement.

Summer Placement

Renishaw takes on a number of students during the summer holiday period for between 6 and 12 weeks. A summer placement at Renishaw offers you the chance to learn more about what a career in a technical role in an engineering company means.

Our Physics/Scientific-based summer placement involves working on live projects under the mentorship of our senior engineers. The work could be in any phase of the product development process from the initial product and technology research phase, through all new product design stages, or in the continued engineering and maintenance of our established product lines.
If you are interested in seeing first-hand how physics principles are applied to real physical and optical problems in engineering, this is an exciting opportunity to experience working in pioneering technologies in the design and development of innovative, world-leading, products. You will also have the opportunity to connect with people working in the business and discuss your career ambitions and ideas with employees in similar roles.

You must:

  • Be studying at sixth form or degree level and already have, or be on track to achieve, good A level grades in physics and mathematics
  • Have a proven interest in technology
  • Be enthusiastic, motivated and have an ambitious nature
