Tri-ballbar system for robot mastering
The RCS T-90 is an advanced diagnostic system designed for mastering new or relocated robots. A tripod configuration of three ballbars in a portable kit, it provides traceable tests to capture vital health information about your robot.
Master your robot with Renishaw accuracy
The RCS T-90 tri-ballbar system features three linear ballbars arranged in a tripod. This complete solution provides manufacturers, engineers, and integrators with a portable toolkit for advanced robot calibration and diagnostics.
Reducing the manual time and effort spent speculating on servicing requirements and positively affecting a robot's overall efficiency and productivity.
Together with the accompanying RCS Software Suite, the RCS T-90 is able to master a new robot, or recover a cell following a crash or part replacement. It can also enable the seamless transfer of a complete robot cell between locations.
The RCS T-90 kit includes the base RCS L-90 kit, allowing you to conduct TCP alignment, volumetric tests, and joint repeatability checks. Giving you complete control over the accuracy of your robot and applying Renishaw's renowned metrology expertise to robot recovery, health checks and predictive maintenance.

[Renishaw demonstrated] the capabilities of the RCS T-90 on site, and by 2pm that day we had affected change in our program, which - without exaggeration - took 90 arc points to complete a circle, down to five points. This represents an immeasurable quality of life improvement for TMF and we can't wait to apply the same improvement to our 15 other weld robots.

Understand the advantages of the RCS T-90 for industrial robots
RCS T-90 is an industrial robot calibration and maintenance solution.
Robots can go wrong. Wear and tear over time will impact their accuracy and repeatability. With RCS T-90, you can speed up, standardise, and gain traceable data for robot set-up and diagnostics.
A dedicated RCS T-90 test can identify deviations in a robot's stored joint offsets. This enables in-field robot mastering, removing errors introduced by incorrect joint angles. This contributes to a range of automation benefits:

Offline programming
Supporting software enables offline programming allowing robots without ethernet connection to perform tests.

Traceable servicing tools
Used for the set-up, health check, and recovery of your robot as well as reducing the time taken to relocate robots.

User friendly process
Working with our intuitive robot software, all of our tests are standardised so they can be performed by any robot operator.
Predictive maintenance for robots
The RCS T-90 enables diagnostic testing, providing a snapshot of your robot's health or performance. These traceable reports highlight necessary repairs before they become critical failures.
The RCS Software Suite stores all of your session history, including test parameters and error data. Giving you a documented service history with patterns of productivity.
The traceability of the RCS L-90 ballbar extends to its full calibration history. Kits include an RCS calibrator so you can calibrate your ballbar to a known length before use and trust in its reliability.

RCS Software Suite
The RCS Software Suite completes our range of RCS products. Conduct ballbar system tests and capture data. Create program templates for robot probing routines to set tool and part frames with reliable accuracy. Follow step-by-step instructions to assess robot performance.

RCS T-90 FAQs
How robust is RCS T-90?
RCS T-90 is a robust tripod configuration of three 90 mm stroke linear ballbars designed for use on factory and machine shop floors. However, operators should avoid dropping or knocking the ballbar. If this happens you should recalibrate the ballbar. Particularly if the end joints are exposed to shock loading.
Does RCS T-90 come with a warranty?
Yes, if you bought an RCS T-90 system directly from Renishaw then it comes with a one year warranty. There is an option to purchase an extended warranty. We also recommend returning your RCS L-90 ballbars and calibrator to your local Renishaw service centre once a year to be serviced.
How much does RCS T-90 cost?
The cost of RCS T-90 depends on the specific package you wish to buy. The RCS Software Suite is free to download, but to run sessions you will need to purchase licences. Please contact our Sales Team to discuss costs.
How can I achieve the most accurate results?
To achieve the best results, each RCS L-90 ballbar should be calibrated once every 12 hours and before use in each new location with the supplied calibrator. The RCS Software Suite will warn you if your ballbar requires calibration before capturing data.
The RCS T-90 system should be securely mounted on a stable base, such as a fixture plate. For an alternative, portable mounting option, you can purchase the RCS tripod kit.
What is the RCS T-90 toolkit comprised of?
The basic RCS T-90 toolkit includes the RCS L-90 kit plus:
- Two extra RCS L-90 ballbars
- RCS T interface module
- RCS T-90 baseplate
- RCS T-90 extension kit
- Fixing accessories
- Cables and power supply
Contact your local Renishaw representative to purchase additional or replacement parts.
How do I run RCS Software Suite?
You need a computer system that meets the minimum PC specification. Download RCS Software Suite from the Robotics section of software downloads.
I am new to robotics, will I be able to use the RCS T-90?
The RCS Software Suite is specifically designed to be easy to use with visual guides to follow each time you perform a test session. To use the equipment you will need to understand how to move a robot, create robot programmes and export and import data onto a robot.
How can I be certain that RCS T-90 will be compatible with my robot?
Our library of supported robots is growing. We now support six axis industrial robots from many of the major robot manufacturers including: ABB, Fanuc, KUKA and Yaskawa. For a specific requirement, contact your local Renishaw representative to discuss.
How is the new zero position different from the joint mechanical zero position?
The zero position for mechanical joints can deteriorate over time and may no longer be reliable to refer to. Many customers benefit from establishing a baseline for internal use. Additionally, this helps when a cell is moved to its customer location.
Can I recover my robot cell automatically?
RCS L-90 and T-90 are designed as toolkit products to be used in-field. Discover our probing solutions for industrial automation. They enable permanent inclusion of metrology within a cell. This allows robots to automatically recover after collisions.
