A short part set-up sequence showing an OMP40 spindle probe measuring datum features on a component. The signal from the probe reaches the CNC via an infra-red optical transmission system. Trigger positions are used to compute feature size, location and orientation, from which are derived work offsets. These are updated automatically, without any need for operator intervention.
